Historic Plaque Unveiling
Joseph J. Duffus

You are cordially invited on October 15, 2016 at 9 a.m. to the unveiling of the historic plaque saluting the Hon. Joseph James Duffus, Senator (1876-1957).

Duffus was one of Canada’s earliest major car dealers, an outstanding local entrepreneur, and an influential political organizer, MP, and Senator.  For over 50 years, Duffus worked diligently to promote the interests of the city and surrounding area, particularly in issues related to social welfare, to automobiles, tractors and airplanes, and the public interest.  As an MP and Senator, 1935-1957, Duffus was very effective in handling issues related to constituents.

The plaque will be unveiled at the Atrium, Princess Gardens, 100 Charlotte Street, Peterborough ON, and mounted permanently near the corner of Charlotte and Water Streets, the long-time site of the Duffus Building.

Following the unveiling, there will be a complimentary pancake breakfast.

Please RSVP no later than October 7 as seating is limited.  RSVP to Heather Aiton Landry, Assistant Archivist, Trent Valley Archives  705-745-4404 and leave a message or e-mail admin@trentvalleyarchives.com
