WW 1 Photo Exhibit - See it at the TVA
The TVA debuted a new photo exhibit With Canadians on the Western Front, at our September 13th Open House. Three collections are featured although most photos are from an album that was donated to Trent Valley Archives in 2006 by Bruce Hodgins, President of Camp Wanapitei on Lake Temagami. Ed Archibald, founder of Camp Wanapitei, who operated YMCA canteens on the Western Front probably compiled the album that contains 503 8 x 10 photographs.
Canadian troops pose around a captured German Albatros C.VII two-seater reconnaissance aircraft.
Canadian troops washing in a shell crater pool.
Two panoramic photographs are also featured in the exhibit.  Both are Roy photographs, and were shot on May 19, 1916 in front of the Peterborough Armouries just weeks before the 93rd Battalion headed to Europe.  Fred Roy considered the large panoramic photograph of the entire battalion to be the most complex photograph shot in Peterborough to that date.

Come to the TVA and see this fascinating and timely exhibit: 567 Carnegie Ave, Peterborough, ON
