Hackster Live Ambassador Update

Ambassador Announcements

We are creating city pages for each of our Silicon Tier Hackster Live chapters! Anyone can join the page as a member to get updates on nearby events and happenings in the city. Ambassadors will be moderators on the page and can post announcements to their communities on Hackster. To see how these pages will look, check out the Houston page below!

We will be hosting our monthly ambassador social call this week on Wednesday, June 28th at 8:00AM PDT. You can add the event to your calendar using this link.

Social calls are informal calls where you can share projects you've been working on, ask questions, and just generally get to know us and your fellow ambassadors. We hope you join us!

Newark element 14 is partnering with Hackster to send you a kit with parts for our upcoming workshop. You can see a list of the components included here

These boxes should be sent out in the next week or two. Please make sure that your address is correct/updated on your Hackster chapter page.
July Workshop
JULY WORKSHOP - Sponsored by Autodesk

Our July project is sponsored by Autodesk and features Fusion 360: a CAD/CAM software that connects your entire product design & development process in a single tool.

It's starting to get hot out there, and what better way to keep cool than to design your own desk fan! Taylor Stein from Autodesk has designed a desk fan that encloses a DC motor using Fusion 360.

Follow along with Taylor's tutorial on our YouTube channel here and learn to make your own. Note that Taylor moves quickly through the steps. If you have never used Fusion 360 before, check out the short video lessons for Fusion 360 below!

Setting up your Fusion 360 Account:
  1. Go to Autodesk. Scroll down and click "Learn more" under the Fusion 360 heading.
  2. Download the free trial.
    1. Fusion 360 is free if you are a startup (hobbyist or small company just getting started). Read more in Autodesk's "Startup and Educational Terms of Service for Cloud Products"
  3. Anytime during your free trial you can change the 30-day trail to a start-up license following the steps outlined here
Hackster and Microsoft RoadShow 2017 Update

We've had four successful events featuring Microsoft Azure with three more coming up this week! Find out where the next events will be and watch the live stream video from Charlotte IoT below!

Two of our newly onboarded ambassadors ran their first meetups this month. Brandon Roberts ran an Upverter meetup for his community in Miami, and Paul Elsberg ran a Hacks and Snacks meetup complete with a super cool neopixel demo! Way to go guys!

Since our Upverter workshop last month we've been seeing some great new projects pop up on Hackster in the Upverter community! Gustavo Reynaga has made two projects on Hackster- one which includes customizing the shape of your PCB.

In addition, Eli and Lance from Santa Monica and Noah from Huntsville have also posted some cool projects!
