Hackster Live Ambassador Update

New Year, New Ambassador Program
DEAR AMBASSADORS,
Thanks so much for all the effort you've put into the ambassador program over the past two years. We're announcing some big changes that will impact you.
We're trying to attract more sponsors for Live, so we're updating our sponsorship options based on their feedback. They said they wanted the following:
  • To be able to pick the cities where Hackster Live events happen.
  • Larger events that reach a wider audience.
  • Better reports about the impact of their events.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Rather than sponsoring all 60 Live chapters, we're giving each sponsor the opportunity to choose 10 cities where they want to run their events. After sponsors pick cities, we'll notify the ambassadors in those cities and they'll have a week to get back to us to let us know if they can run an event.

Ambassadors will have three months to plan and run an event and submit a report to the form

Ambassadors will receive $1000 per event run; $500 up front for the event costs and $500 upon successful completion of the event (all requirements fulfilled).

Starting February 1st, we'll be ending Emburse. Payments to ambassadors who complete events will be made through PayPal.

FAQ

If I didn't get picked by the sponsor, can I still run a Hackster meetup?

Definitely! We hope that even if you're not sponsored this quarter you'll still use Hackster’s platform to promote your events and find fun and interesting projects on Hackster you can recreate.

Your Live page will still be available. You can still access the page and post events. Your members will still see all the updates and any event that you schedule will appear on your city page.

Doesn't this mean that only people in big cities will get sponsorship?

Unfortunately, yes. However, sponsors will be able to see your chapter pages on Hackster and we'll encourage them to select cities that have run amazing events in the past, no matter their size.

When will the switch take place?

The ambassador program will switch over starting February 1st, 2018. At that time, Emburse will end.

Are you accepting new ambassadors?

Yes! We have a new application form here that you can send to your hardware-loving friends across the globe.

What other opportunities are there for me to stay involved with Hackster Live?

We hope to feature more outstanding Hackster members on the blog - you can apply to be interviewed here
