CSBC Governance Through Bylaws Webinar

As a result of the COVID-19 lockdown, many churches entered the world of virtual worship and Bible study, using Facebook, YouTube, Zoom and other technologies. However, most churches soon discovered their Bylaws seriously impaired their ability to conduct "legal" business meetings, especially if absentee voting was prohibited.

This webinar on July 27th at 10 a.m. will demonstrate how organizational Bylaws must specifically authorize alternative forms of business meetings and voting, for both members and corporation directors if "in-person" meetings are not possible. Bylaws must be modernized and updated properly to permit legal "virtual business meetings" now and in the future. Also highlighted will be the challenges posed by "virtual voting." This webinar also will outline the essential characteristics and needs of Bylaws, and will address changes coming to Robert's Rules of Order in September 2020.

Leading this 90-minute webinar is CSBC's Church Compliance Specialist Max Herr, who has authored a new set of "Model Bylaws" for congregationally governed churches and has assisted numerous congregations with authoring or modernizing their Bylaws. He will lead an extended "question & answer" session for those interested.
