BEE CAVE, Texas -- Bee Caves Arts Foundation, formally announces its collaboration with the City of Paestum, Italy on Project HOPE.
Project HOPE is a series of events honoring Texas’ 36th Infantry Division who fought to liberate Paestum and southern Italy from the Nazi regime during World War II. This partnership supports art, cultural exchange, and travel for local students and veterans. It helps students learn and reinforce with veterans the importance the Texas military has played in securing our liberties as well as contributing to continued good will and cultural exchange between Texas and southern Italy.
This international artwork collaboration will focus on hope, peace, freedom, brotherhood, democracy, tolerance and inclusion. The project has three major phases: Phase I – November 2022 through February 2023 - Official solicitation of student and veteran artwork. Phase II – Month of March 2023 - Exhibition of all artists’ entries. Additionally, on March 31st a grand finale Awards Presentation in the Bee Cave Arts Foundation gallery located in Bee Cave, TX. Phase III – Selected art works will be exhibited in Paestum, Italy and permanently integrated into a 30-foot sculpture designed by Italian artist Franco Palmentieri. Winning artists will attend the 80th anniversary of “Operation Avalanche” in Paestum, Italy to witness the dedication and unveiling of the sculpture to honor our Texas military.
Deadline for art submission is February 27, 2023. Artists can find qualifications to enter this competition on the organization's website at https://beecavearts.foundation/project-hope-submit-art.
