Project HOPE Art Exhibition and Competition Takes Place in March
BEE CAVE, Texas – The Project HOPE Art Exhibition takes place throughout the month of March in the Bee Cave Arts Foundation (BCAF) gallery at 12700 Hill Country Galleria, Suite T125.
The exhibition is an international artwork collaboration with the City of Paestum, Italy. The project honors soldiers in Texas’ 36th Infantry Division and Allies who fought to liberate Paestum and Southern Italy from the Nazi regime during World War II.
Artwork from both students and military veterans focuses on hope, peace, freedom, brotherhood, democracy, tolerance, and inclusion. The project helps educate students and reinforce with veterans the importance the Texas military played in securing liberties as well as contributing to continued good will and cultural exchange between Texas and Southern Italy.
From the Bee Cave exhibit entries, renowned Italian artist Franco Palmentieri will select one artwork by a student and one by a military veteran to represent America in Italy. First-place winners’ art is exhibited in Paestum this summer and will be permanently integrated into a 30-foot memorial sculpture designed by Palmentieri. The winners are invited to attend the 80th anniversary of “Operation Avalanche” on September 9th in Paestum to witness the dedication and unveiling of the sculpture.
Deadline for art submissions for the Project HOPE Exhibition and Competition is February 27. Texas veterans and K-12 young artists can find qualifications to enter the competition on the BCAF website.
A festive exhibition opening will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. March 2 in the BCAF gallery. An award ceremony and concert featuring singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa takes place March 31 at the Hill Country Galleria Amphitheater in Bee Cave.
The public is welcome to attend a donor dinner and silent auction from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. January 18 at Mandola’s Italian Kitchen, 12815 Shops Pkwy #400, Bee Cave, TX 78738. Mandola’s is generously hosting the event and giving a percentage of the evening revenue to the project. Proceeds help pay for exhibit supplies, the awards concert, and transportation to Italy for the winning artists.
Other donation and sponsorship opportunities for Project HOPE are available on the website. Bee Cave Arts Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible.
