Project HOPE Art Exhibition and Awards Concert Takes Place March 31
BEE CAVE, Texas – The Project HOPE Art Exhibition runs through March. The Awards Concert Event takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 31 at the Hill Country Galleria Amphitheater in Bee Cave. Sponsored by Bee Cave Arts Foundation (BCAF), the event includes a concert by singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa and awards presentations to participants in the Project HOPE Art Exhibit. Prior to the concert, an art reception will take place in the BCAF gallery from 5:30-6:30 pm.
Students and military veterans are submitting artwork by the February 27 deadline for display throughout the month of March. The exhibit is an international artwork collaboration with the City of Paestum, Italy. The project honors soldiers in Texas’ 36th Infantry Division and Allies who fought to liberate Paestum and Southern Italy from the Nazi regime during World War II. Artwork from both students and military veterans focuses on hope, peace, freedom, brotherhood, democracy, tolerance, and inclusion. It helps educate students and reinforce with veterans the importance the Texas military played in securing liberties as well as contributing to continued good will and cultural exchange between Texas and Southern Italy.
From the exhibit entries, one artwork by a student and one by a military veteran will be selected to represent America in Italy. First-place winners’ art is exhibited in Paestum this summer and permanently integrated into a 30-foot memorial sculpture designed by Italian artist Franco Palmentieri. The winners are invited to attend the 80th anniversary of “Operation Avalanche” in September in Paestum to witness the dedication and unveiling of the sculpture.
Judge for the Project HOPE Art Contest is Italian artist/sculptor Franco Palmentieri.
During the Project HOPE Art Awards event, the top student and veteran winners will be honored followed by the concert. The event is casual attire and takes place in the grassy amphitheater. The event is free and open to the public.
Donation and sponsorship opportunities for Project HOPE are available on the BCAF website. Bee Cave Arts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
