Meet Switchbot, the light switch button pusher!
Switchbot is a small, Alexa-enabled device that sits on top of your existing light switch and pushes it on or off. I have a Switchbot set up on every wall-mounted light switch in my home, and I absolutely love them.
If you’re like me, you probably have a few lights that won't easily work with Hue smart light bulbs for whatever reason (I’m thinking everything from ceiling track lights to that funky light fixture that requires a special light bulb to look good). And that's where Switchbot comes in!
Switchbots lets you control all your wall-mounted light switches with Alexa. You'll be able to use Alexa voice commands and routines -- just like you do with your Alexa-enabled Hue light bulbs!
How to easily add Switchbots to your home:
#1. What you need to buy: Buy one Switchbot smart button pusher ($29) for each light switch you want to control with Alexa. In order to make the switches work with Alexa, you'll also need a Switchbot Hub ($49).
#2. Set-up is simple: Once you have your Switchbot hub and smart button pushers in hand, download the Switchbot app from the App Store or Google Play and follow the prompts to get your Switchbot up and running. I was surprised how easy it was!
Bonus Pro Tip: If you want a true Alexa-controlled light switch, check out the new Decora smart dimmer ($100) which actually has Alexa built into it -- you won't even need an Echo to set it up, and you can talk right to it!
