3 tips for a better podcast listening experience

#1. Use the AnyPod skill instead of the default

You'll be able to subscribe to your favorite podcasts, more easily use Alexa to control your podcast listening and more. To enable the AnyPod skill, tap/click here then tap/click the "Enable" button (it's free!).

#2. It's super easy to turn on your favorite podcast with Alexa

Just say "Alexa, ask AnyPod to play the Fresh Air podcast" (insert podcast of your choice!).

#3. The 2 most useful podcast listening commands

  • "Alexa, pause" will pause the podcast, and AnyPod keeps track of where you left off
  • "Alexa, ask AnyPod to fast forward 2 minutes" (or rewind)

Bonus Pro Tip: Use your Echo as a bluetooth speaker to play podcasts at a faster speed

I usually listen to podcasts at 1.25x or 1.5x speed from my phone, and I was disappointed to learn that Alexa can't speed up podcasts. A good workaround is to play the podcast from your favorite podcast app on your phone and use your Echo as a bluetooth speaker.

See why Alexa is the classroom assistant all teachers need

According to Instructional Technology Consultant Rebecca Dwenger, Echo speakers are a game changer in the classroom.

In addition to using Alexa to help with administrative things like reminders and creating lists, Rebecca even suggests using Alexa to gamify learning by creating personalized Alexa skill learning games and Q&A. Teachers (and students!) can use Amazon Alexa Skill Blueprints to create fun listening quizzes, flashcards, interactive stories and more.
