An echo dot with light shining on it

4 ways Alexa-enabled lighting can (literally!) brighten your day:

#1. It's like "clap on, clap off" but with your voice!

When you’re coming home to a dark apartment or house, being able to turn on lights while you struggle to carry four bags of groceries is a lifesaver. Yes, I’m speaking from experience! Once your lights are paired with Alexa, simply say “Alexa, turn on the kitchen lights” and voila! Instant illumination.

#2. Get into a routine

I have a bad habit of getting sucked into Netflix and binge-watching re-runs of my favorite show. Suddenly, it’s 1am and well past my bedtime. Sound like you, too? Alexa can help! I love my bedtime (and morning) routines, which slowly raise and lower the lights to help get my brain in the right frame of mind before it’s time to count sheep. Here’s how to set up a routine for your Alexa-compatible lighting.

Pro tip: Parents will love bedtime routines to help keep kiddos on a schedule. With an Alexa routine, you can keep your bedtime ritual the same night after night… so even a new babysitter can do it right.

#3. Live life in full color

Smart home lighting? Check! Colorful smart home lighting? YES PLEASE! Add a little snap to your next get-together by connecting color enabled lights to your Alexa device. Whether you want pink, purple, blue or green, Alexa is ready to help throw down at your next party! Check out our tips for changing your Hue lights, and don’t worry: you can always go back to white.

#4. Cozy up & dim the lights down

Getting ready for a romantic dinner or to watch a movie? Cue Alexa for the mood lighting! Dim the lights by simply saying “Alexa, dim the living room lights by 20%.” When you’re done, say “Alexa, brighten the living room lights by 100%”.

Who you gonna call... ?

GHOSTBUSTERS! Just say "Alexa, open Ghostbusters" to check out this fun Alexa interactive audio adventure game featuring the voice talents of Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.
