"Alexa, what's a substitution for baking powder?"
I've been doing a lot of baking lately, which means I'm running short on all the basic baking ingredients -- and unfortunately so is my local supermarket.
Luckily, it's easy to get recipe substitutions just by asking Alexa -- and without even pausing to wash your flour-covered hands!
You can ask Alexa things like:
- "Can you substitute baking soda for baking powder?" (I learned that 1/4 tsp of baking soda + 1/2 cup of plain yogurt can substitute for 1 tsp of baking powder!)
- "What's a substitution for olive oil?" (insert the ingredient you're out of!)
Bonus Cooking Tip: Never waste time trying to find infrequently used kitchen tools again
Things like the carrot peeler, garlic press, lemon zester, you get my drift. Ask Alexa to remember where you keep them!
Do This Now: For each of these kitchen items say: "Alexa, remember the lemon zester is in the third drawer next to the sink." Alexa will respond "Okay, I'll remember."
The next time you need the zester and can't find it, just say "Alexa, where's the lemon zester?"
