A many chopping tomatoes with other vegetables in the shot

3 ways to hack cooking dinner with Alexa:

#1. When your recipe calls for olive oil but you just ran out...

Alexa is great for finding recipe substitutions when you don't have an ingredient on hand. Just say "Alexa, what's a substitution for olive oil?" or "Alexa, can you substitute butter for olive oil?" (to find out whether an ingredient you have will work).

#2. When you can't find the lemon zester and don't want to waste time looking for it...

Just ask Alexa to remember where you keep those infrequently used kitchen tools (carrot peeler, garlic press, you get my drift). You'll never waste time trying to find them again. The next time you need one of these items, you can ask Alexa where it is. "Alexa, remember the lemon zester is in the third drawer next to the sink." Alexa will respond "Okay, I'll remember." Then next time you need it, just say "Alexa, where's the lemon zester?"

#3. When dinner is ready but you don't want to go room to room shouting it out...

Ask Alexa to announce it over the Echo speakers across your home. Just say  "Alexa, announce that dinner's ready." It's as easy as that :)

An Ecobee thermostat
Controlling your devices with Alexa makes the whole smart home experience so much better. Aside from smart lights and and smart plugs which are a must, my pick from this list would be the thermostat so that I could automatically change the temperature as part of my evening and morning Alexa routines.
