4 devices you don't need anymore when you have Alexa:

#1. Alarm clock

Alexa doubles as an all-purpose alarm clock. Try “Alexa, set alarm for 7am tomorrow.” And you can even set a second alarm for 7:15am (it usually takes me two alarms to get up!). She takes music requests too: “Alexa, wake me up to Adele every weekday at 6:30am.” When your alarm goes off, say “Alexa, stop."

Pro Tip: Set an Alexa routine that kicks off with your alarm to hear music, news, weather, traffic, calendar updates -- and even to brew your morning coffee!

#2. White noise machine

Skip the sound machine -- Alexa’s ambient sound skills can lull you sleep at night. Just tell her what to play: “Alexa, play thunderstorm sounds” or “Alexa, play rain sounds.” Tap/click here to see the best free Alexa sleep sounds.

#3. Kitchen timer

With Alexa, you'll never use a kitchen timer again. Set a single timer or multiple, and do it all effortlessly as you go. “Alexa, set 20-minute timer.” You can even name timers: "Alexa, set 30-minute timer for the cookies.” It’s a game-changer.

Pro Tip: If you’d rather not say “Alexa, stop” every time, set them as reminders instead: “Alexa, set reminder for 8 minutes for the pasta.”

#4. Speakers

Last but not least, Alexa's speaker functions are killer -- listen to music, news, books and more. Asking Alexa to play a song, artist or genre is by far the easiest way to play music across home speakers. If you're in the market for an Alexa speaker, tap/click here to find the best one for your needs.

Alexa can even teach you how to buy or sell a house

Tap/click here and enable the My Real Estate Advisor skill then just say "Alexa, talk to my Real Estate Advisor" to learn about the most important considerations when buying or selling a house. You can even opt to receive a free e-book via text message with details on getting started, the mortgage process, hazard insurance and more -- or be put in touch directly with a real estate agent in your area.
