Let Alexa handle your phone calls!

Just say "Alexa, dial (contact's name)"

Ring any of your contacts just by asking Alexa. Alexa will place the call, and you can talk to the person on the other end of the line through your Echo speaker (just as if you were talking to Alexa). You'll notice that while you're on the call, your Echo's light ring will be green. Making phone calls doesn't get easier than this!

Pro Tip: Check out Alexa's drop in feature -- it's like a two-way intercom that lets you communicate with someone on the end of another Echo speaker -- but without anyone having to answer the "call." Just say "Alexa, drop in on (contact's name such as mom)" or drop in from the Alexa app. There are so many great reasons to use drop in -- like when you're trying to reach someone at home who isn't answering their phone or to surprise mom with an unexpected hello. And don't worry: only people you specifically assign drop-in privileges can drop in on you!

Do This Now: Set-up for making calls is easy, free & fast!

All you need to do is activate Alexa Communication in a few easy steps:

  1. Open your Alexa app
  2. Tap the “Communicate” icon on the bottom navigation bar
  3. Follow the prompts to sign up
  4. Doing this will prompt you to link Alexa to your phone’s contact list (you'll need to do this in order to dial your contacts)
  5. Start dialing!
Pro Tip: If you already have Alexa Communication activated but you need to link your contacts to Alexa, open the "Communicate" tab from the bottom navigation bar in the Alexa app > tap the person icon in the upper right corner > tap the 3 vertical dots icon in the upper right corner > tap "Import Contacts" and toggle on.
