A collaboration between Living Wage Auckland and the Tongan Youth Trust has kicked off with a sign-up concert where young Tongans committed to 9 weeks of workshops in dance, theatre, music and visual arts and a performance in December around the theme of participation, contribution and well-being. Henele Tuita is coordinating E.C.H.O. E=enlighten our people for a brighter future; C= contribute to our community; H= honour who we are; and O=opportunities to grow. Together we celebrate our shared purpose:
The need for a proper income for decent health, life styles and the quality support required for a good education
The desire for structural change in society that shifts the mindset of people about their capability, to inspire them to think that anything is possible
The recognition that we need the capacity to act together if we are to bring about change that transforms people’s lives.
An army of volunteers and over 600 postcards were signed at Victoria University of Wellington supporting the Living Wage all workers, directly employed and contracted workers.
