Tempe House was nominated and won the highest award in the 2013 Marrickville Medal, which is Sydney's longest running conservation award.

Acacia Joinery's involvement in this project included the manufacture of a wide variety of timber windows, doors and screens.
The rear of the house was re-constructed to draw sunlight & ventilation throughout the house. A set of timber sliding doors create a stronger connection between house and garden.
Louvre hi-lite windows catch the North Easterly breeze, allowing a cool draft in the summer and warmth in the winter.
The re-creation of a japanese styled bathroom at the back of the home features a sliding window and privacy screen, allowing views on three sides to the beautiful private garden.
Also included in the project was the construction of a Japanese-style hardwood Art Studio at the rear of the property.
