Design - Fergus Scott Architects
Build - Peter Rein Pty Ltd
Beautiful Jarrah windows and doors by Acacia Joinery perfectly compliment this idyllic retreat on the South Coast of NSW. This rustic pavilion holiday home was designed to engage the dramatic natural surroundings in which it is set, and to be a serene place in heightened contrast to life in the city.
A seamless flow of large sliding windows and doors in the living, dining & kitchen spaces, effectively balances panoramic eastern views and capitalizes on the northern sun in the cooler months of the year. A continuous band of clerestory windows around the house bring natural light into every room, with a wraparound window sill which captures picturesque mountain & ocean views.
Included in the project were translucent sliding glass doors, providing dual access to the external southern deck from the children's playroom/ bunkroom & two bathrooms.

Contour House - Berry Mountain
|
Design - Peter Stutchbury Architecture
Build - Wilcon Building
Acacia Joinery worked along with well renowned Architect Peter Stutchbury to achieve the result of this impressionable home set against the contours of the land in Berry Mountain. This home is made unique by the owners desire to create a living environment which provides the comfort of a home, coupled with the casualness of camping.
Along the front of the house, known as the 'Gun Barrel', we were required to make several large Pivot Doors. Our precise workmanship and expertise was evident as we effectively achieved the desire for an unobstructed opening, the entire length of the 'Barrel'. These proved a successful challenge as they were to be fitted within a concrete structure with minimal tolerances and no closing jambs. Also included in our scope of works, were several large sliding door sets in the kitchen/ living areas and Bi-fold door sets opening out from the bedrooms.

Design - Anderson Architecture
Build - R & S Parchi Pty Ltd
Having been given the challenging task of redesigning a Mosman couple's home in a heritage zone, Architect Simon Anderson was determined to make it green. Anderson retained the original home and dovetailed in a new addition that draws in light and fresh air, and collects much of its own energy and water.
Acacia Joinery manufactured the timber windows and doors for the project, keeping it green, using locally grown & sustainably managed Spotted Gum. These effectively serve to enhance the energy efficiency of the home, providing a natural means of light & circulation throughout.
Multiple connecting Bi-fold door sets at the rear of the home have been designed to create two separate living spaces, and can be opened and closed in a variety of combinations. The space, which juts out into the garden, is in turn divided by a small central courtyard shaded by timber pergola blades, also by Acacia Joinery. Adjustable power louvres & sashless Aneeta windows strategically situated within the home, provide through ventilation, letting breezes run from front to back.
Having now experienced the home through the seasons, the family are pleasantly surprised at how the green design makes their house more comfortable and finely tuned to the way they want to live.
