Lesson 526: Who's Your Father?
Satan began the first 2 temptations with this: “If you are the Son of God”.
Matt.7:9-11 which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?... If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Being a father involves provision. Some fathers struggle to provide; only one Father provides perfectly. He has unlimited resources (God is able); He has infinite love (God is willing).
Jesus calls us to pray to our Father. Matt.6:9 Believers are God’s children. John 1:12-13
God the Father loved God the Son before the foundation of the world; that’s when God chose all of His children in Christ. John 17:24; Eph.1:4-5
Adam and Eve fell into sin when Satan planted the seed of doubt in their minds. They began to think that God was failing to provide, holding back a good gift from them.
Adam and Eve decided that God was an enemy who didn’t really love them. They forgot who their father was.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
