Lesson 519: Christ Our Righteousness
Phil.3:9 be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.
1 Cor.1:30 because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption
Because Jesus lived a perfect sinless life, His righteousness is credited to each believer.
He is qualified to serve as our High Priest, interceding as our advocate before God the Father. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, He is able to change our desires to be like His.
Because of Christ, our selfish desires can be re-directed, to love God and our neighbors.
Matt.22:37-39 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
