Lesson 598: Why Should We Fear God? Pt.1
God is perfect in holiness, infinite in power (omnipotent), in all places at all times (omnipresent).
He knows everything and sees everything, even our thoughts (omniscient). He is able to destroy not only the body, but the soul forever.
In our culture, the word “awesome” has lost its significance: “This hot dog is awesome!”
As we discover God’s character (who He is) in His Word, our response should be true awe and reverent fear.
Isa.6:3 Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!
Isa.40:22-23, 28 It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers… who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
