Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 31: Our Mind: the Castle Wall, Part 1

1 Pet.1:13-16 preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.

Our mind is our front line of defense against the deceptions coming from our flesh. When Potiphar’s wife tempted Joseph, 2 thoughts protected his mind from sin. He recognized what a wicked thing sin is, and how good and gracious God is.

Gen.39:6-10 Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. And after a time, his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, “Lie with me.” But Joseph refused and said to his master's wife, “Behold, because of me, my master has no concern about anything in the house; he has put everything that he has in my charge. He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her.

About This Series

The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21

- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work
