Lesson 243: The Race Set Before Us
The Christian life is a race, and the Bible calls us to persevere. Like the map above showing the marathon route for the London Olympics, God has planned a course for each of us around our city.
Heb.12:1 let us run with endurance the race that is set before us
1 Cor.9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
Phil.3:14 NIV I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Gal.5:7 You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?
2 Tim.4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Phil.4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
