Lesson 82: Only God Can Give Peace
The God of peace is sovereign; He chooses to give His grace to whomever he wants. Rom.9:18
The God of all comfort is able to fill His children with overflowing comfort.
2 Cor.1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
Only God can give peace to a sinner’s conscience. God dwells with those who repent, not with the proud.
Psa.51:17 The sacrifices God desires are a broken spirit; a broken & contrite heart
Matt.5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit (the humble), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
God the Father creates peace, and Christ declares that peace to believers, as fruit of the Spirit. The flesh wants you to take comfort in the flesh, not in God alone.
We must learn how to distinguish the easy peace offered by the flesh vs. God’s peace. If you feel at peace, but you still don’t hate the sin, that’s the flesh talking.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
