Lesson 17: Haunted House, Part 2
Our mind knows it is right to give back a portion of the blessings God has given; we know it is more blessed to give.
Acts 20:35 Jesus said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
Our will puts the money into the offering plate, but our heart resents God for taking it. We are richly blessed by quiet time, Bible study, prayer and the feast of communion with God.
Our mind can’t wait; our will sets the alarm clock. But our heart says “Go back to sleep.” Our heart is a haunted house where sin hides.
Eccl.9:3 the hearts of the children of man are full of evil
Matt.15:19 out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.
Luke 6:45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
