Adult Faith Formation (RCIA) Newsletter

Week of April 10-16 2022

Welcome to Holy Week!

Thank you for all who came to our Palm Sunday brunch. It was so nice hearing everyone’s RCIA journeys as we prepare for this coming Saturday.

Here are all the events happening this week:

Monday 4/11 at 6pm Penance Service inside the church. We will start the evening with some prayer and music and then all candidates receiving their sacraments this Easter and their sponsors will be receiving the sacrament of confession. Please be on time, and sit on the Joseph side of the church. We will have handouts to help you with the confession as well as the prayers and music for the evening.

Wednesday 4/13 at 6pm Rehearsal for the Easter Vigil for those receiving their sacraments. Please meet with your sponsor at 6pm in front of the church. There will be no class this week.

Thursday 4/14 at 6pm Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper. This is not mandatory but recommended to attend.

Good Friday 4/15 We will pray the Office of Readings and Morning Prayer (part of the Liturgy of the Hours) at 8:30am. It will be a special experience to pray the prayer of the Church at these times. Then at 3pm is the Celebration of the Passion of our Lord inside the church. These are not mandatory but recommended to attend.

Holy Saturday 4/16 Will will meet inside the church at 8:30am for Morning Prayer then walk to the Assisi Room for a small retreat and Rite presentation. We will be finished around 11:30. Remember this day is all about preparing for the Easter Vigil so try to fast and abstain from celebrating until after the Easter Vigil service.

Then we meet in front of the Mary Statue near the front of the church at 8:30pm to start the Easter Vigil Service. The service will last around 3 hours.

Sunday 4/17 Enjoy your Easter!

This week is going to fly by for all of you. I want you to try to take some time to sit a listen to this song from Third Day called Thief. It is about the thief who was crucified next to Jesus and their conversation. Try to imagine yourself at the thief this week and Jesus is telling you that your sins are forgiven and he will see you in Paradise.
