St Isidore Catholic Church

Adult Faith Formation (RCIA) Newsletter

Week of October 31 - November 6 2021

Greetings Participants and Parishioners.

Happy All Saints Day! Today is a big day in the Catholic Church. Today we celebrate all the saints who have lived this life and are now living in heaven and interceding for those of us on earth. What a beautiful family we have in the Church. Take some time today to read about a saint you have maybe seen a photo of or heard mentioned in class that you want to learn more about.

Thank you to those who joined us last week. Our Catechumenates had a great discussion about saints. Here is the handout from Matt with more great info about the saints. And here is the video from Father Mike Schmitz we watched about All Saints Day.

All Saints Day Pep Talk

We also had some discussion about Purgatory, though we will revisit the topic later, here is Fr Mike Schmitz again with a brief video about the topic.

What You Should Know About Purgatory

Also, here is a great debate from Pints with Aquinas on praying to saints.

Do Catholics PRAY to Saints? w/ Cameron Bertuzzi

This Wednesday, October 27, we will be meeting at 6:30pm in the Assisi Room. We will all meet together in the Assisi Room for opening prayer and announcements, and then we will split up between Inquiry group and Catechumenate group.

Our Inquiry group will discuss the Four Last Things with Helen. The four last things are: Death, Judgement, Heaven, and Hell. It’ll be a great discussion you won’t want to miss.

We meet for Breaking Open the Word every Sunday at 10am Mass. After the priest’s homily, he will call forward all who are participating in RCIA. He says a blessing over you then dismisses you with one of our team members to meet together and discuss the bible readings that were just read at mass.

It is very helpful if you arrive to mass early so you can sit close to the front. It helps us know who is present and it’s a shorter walk for you when the priest calls you forward.

Do you know where to find the mass readings so you can follow along during mass? There are several great resources:

  • In the pews there are green books with all the Sunday mass readings, there are dates at the bottom of the pages and they are in both English and Spanish.

  • Here are some website that also offer the readings, many of them have options to subscribe and have the readings emailed to you:

Don’t forget to check out There you will find amazing videos, audio books, and books about every topic related to the Catholic Faith. There are even movies you and your family can watch together. If you have a smart tv or Roku, you can get the Formed app and watch on your tv. If you have never sign in before, choose “sign up” then “sign up as a parishioner” and search for St Isidore Yuba City Church.
