In this edition we reflect on the growing importance of our work as interfaith peacebuilders through our #ThisIsWhoWeAre campaign; we celebrate the upcoming broadcast of our Interfaith Christmas Special airing across the United States, and much more.
Around North America

While there is violence in many parts of our world today, members of URI consistently prove that we can live together in peace. During these trying times, let us remember that we have an impact on our communities. Let us not forget that we are a network of interfaith peacebuilders from 750 Cooperation Circles in 93 countries, representing dozens of faith traditions and tens of thousands of people -- #ThisIsWhoWeAre.

Welcome!

This month two new Cooperation Circles were added to the URI North America family:

The Missoula Interfaith Collaborative, located in Montana, seeks to foster cooperation and relationships between our faith communities and social services to address community challenges together.

United for Humanity and the Spirit of the Earth, located in British Columbia, works towards a new universal solidarity, drawing together plural and diverse cultures indigenous traditions, ethnicities, religions and spiritual expressions.
Resource Nook
With the rise of Islamophobic rhetoric, the work of interfaith groups in North America is more critical now than it has been in a while. As your community seeks to build cultures of peace, here are a few resources we hope will ignite and inspire you:
  • With toolkits, toolcards, sample social media posts and graphics, Talking Back To Hate has a robust library of resources and ideas for taking positive action in response to hate
  • In response to requests from Cooperation Circles to mobilize action, URI Co-Director of Global Programs Sally Mahe put together a few ideas. Click here to read these ideas or here to be inspired by stories from your fellow Cooperation Circles.
Artist's Corner

The Sacred Currents Cooperation Circle in Australia aims to produce arts and cultural projects that facilitate a shared experience, transcend difference, and create community. In 2014 they created the Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra, which is still going strong today. Click HERE to watch a documentary of their work, which includes beautiful clips of their music.
Global Spotlight
Last month, 38 Pakistani youth from all over the country participated in a Youth Trainer Seminar organized by URI Pakistan.

"It was wonderful to hear and learn from young leaders about the challenges they face and how enthusiastic they are to both overcome these challenges and make use of their abilities in a constructive way to make this world a better place to live in."  Read more.
