This is the second edition of our monthly Spotlight Newsletter.

If you have a short story (200 words) or pictures of Parish or Local Community events please send them to the office before the 15th of the month you would like it to appear in.

Suggestions for improvement are most welcome, since this newsletter is very much a work in progress and will evolve over the coming months.

It's Christmas Time... in the Summer!

Let's get ready for Saturday, November 4th, 2017

Mark your calendars!

Christmas Market

"We feel honoured to have our traditions as the Barkers and Physicks have both grown up here at St. Matthew’s, with the Bazaar a fun kick-off to the holidays every year," say the Christmas Market fundraising team of Joanna Barker and Devon Physick.

"We want to keep the history alive while also creating some new traditions!  We are excited to work with all of you to create the Christmas Market!"

Joanna and Devon can be reached at stmatthewchristmasmarket@gmail.com

Below are some of the activities planned to kickstart the Christmas Market, and that will be part of the Market.

And, last but not the least...

Funds raised will go to all our ministries.

If you'd like to get involved or make a donation or two, please reach out to Joanna and Devon at stmatthewchristmasmarket@gmail.com

New Parking Signs

By the end of this month our new Parking Signs in both the front and back parking lots should be all in place.

According to City regulations the bottom of the signs have to be at least 7 feet from the grass and have the City Bylaw number on them. Once the signs are all installed we will be able to call City Parking Enforcement or the police to ticket and/or tow any cars that are parked on our lot without authorization.

Parish Ministry Fair

This year, our annual Parish Ministry Fair was yet another success despite the rains. Undaunted, the kids events, like the Eggspoon race were huge hits, despite the events having to take place in the Lower Hall, instead of out on our beautiful lawns. Next year, we hope for better weather!

Newcomers, Neema and Chance had an opportunity to visit with many parishioners during the BBQ after the 10:00 a.m. service.

Thanks to BBQ "Chef Robbie Roberts" for keeping the fire going during the inclement weather!

To all of my St. Matthew’s family for your prayers, messages, etc. following my recent surgery and recovery period.  I continue to make good progress and look forward to being back with you all in the near future.

A special thank you to Reverend Lisa for her numerous calls and visits.  They have been greatly appreciated.

Altar Guild

During their annual summer event members of the Altar Guild wished Wendy Blatchford a very fond farewell as she stepped down from her many years as Coordinator.

We ask that members of the Altar Guild prayerfully consider stepping into this most important ministry, that shepherds our altar for all Sunday services, weddings, baptisms and funerals.

Moorelands Director of Development and Communication thanks us for the Layette Sunday donations to the "Baby Bundles" programme. " Your gift provides hope for a new mother at the beginning of the most important job she'll ever hold. Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of babies and mothers living in some of Toronto's poorest neighbourhoods."

For information about their programmes and services, see moorelands.ca
