SCNSW April Newsflash

Saturday, 1 April 2017

Grüezi members and friends!

The SCNSW wishes all our members and friends a Frohi Oschtere 2017!

In Switzerland, Easter (or 'Oschtere' in German) is widely celebrated and marks the beginning of the spring season, which is celebrated with fanfare. A common and beloved Swiss Easter tradition is painting your own Easter eggs ('Eier dekorieren').

But, what is the history of the Easter egg, and what is its cultural significance in Switzerland and in other countries? Read the article on our Blog page to find out more.

Past Event: Free Swiss BBQ, Bronte Beach

On Sunday 12 March, we organised a Free Swiss BBQ at Bronte Beach. We had an amazing turn out with over 40 people, and we couldn't have asked for better weather! There was also time to go for an afternoon dip at Bronte Beach to cool off, and an interactive playground to keep the kids entertained all day.

BBQ bratwurst, cervelat and fleischkäse were on the buffet menu, along with fresh mixed salad and condiments. A variety of bread was also available, which were kindly donated (and personally baked) by sisters and chefs Pascale Blaettler and Cloe Cee from Organic Bread Bar: we sincerely thank you for your generosity.

Thank you to everyone who came along: we hope you had some great conversations and had a fantastic day! We hope to see you next time again.
