Grüezi members & friends!

We hope you have had a wonderful February and have enjoyed the last month of Summer as we transition into cooler Autumn. The Swiss Club had an excellent turn-out to the Jazz Picnic at Berry Island (see photos here); the Swiss Playgroup organised a Fasnacht-inspired craft session where they made fun masks; and, the Swiss Yodellers hosted their annual Harbour Cruise, which was a wonderful evening (see photos here).

BBQ at Bronte Beach


Please join us for casual BBQ in Bronte Park near the public BBQ area. BYO drinks, but the SCNSW will organise a sausage sizzle, mixed salad and bread free of charge. The best spot for a free park is in the back streets near the Waverley Cemetery. You can then walk down to the beach and walk north along the cliff-walk to the beach, or walk to the hilltop Bronte Shops and find your way down the laneways to the beach (5-8 mins) – just look for the Swiss flag that will be up. Don't forget to bring your swimmers and sun-cream if you decide to go for a swim!

Cost: Members free. Non-members $10.00 (to cover food costs)

Swiss Festival Australia

Groups and organisations representing all four languages and areas of Switzerland take part in the Swiss Festival 2014, where the Swiss community highlights its unique culture and traditions. The Swiss Festival is held annually in Melbourne and its main event for all Swiss groups located in Victoria. The Swiss Festival Committee is a subgroup of the Swiss Club of Victoria. Friendly Vintage Football Tournament in Sydney:

Vintage World Cup Sydney is hosting a friendly football tournament on Saturday, 3 May 2014 and is looking for teams from all the nationalities of Sydney. For those of you who like football and feel patriotic, this would be a great opportunity to meet new people and have fun playing the world game. It is a one-day, five-a-side tournament open to everyone. You will get to wear a World Cup Swiss team shirt of years past (matching vintage hairstyle is optional). Subscriptions close mid March. Trivia Night: Around the World in 25 Years

Join the German International School Sydney for a fun Trivia Night raising funds for a much needed pedestrian crossing. There will be prizes, games, raffles and tremendous amounts of fun to be had by all that attend.  Bigger and better than ever before, the annual Trivia Night will also double as a quarter century celebration for the GISS community to relish in the successes of the last 25 years. 

Build your own trivia team of eight and take on the worldwide challenge, or the school will find a team for you to join! Dress Code: International theme and best dressed table will win a prize (to protect our school hall, we request no high heels please). BYO: table decoration, food & drinks or pre-order snacks in advance.
