I would like to share with all of you that Chokling Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Tulku Urgyen Yangsi Rinpoche, and I led the monks of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery in a five-day Vajrakilaya puja, which ended on Sundaywith the lama dances (Cham). This is a wrathful puja for removing obstacles of the past year and for the coming year. Yes, there are very wrathful skulls and wrathful faces, but these represent the great compassion and strength of all the wrathful Buddhas.
Every year we do this kind of puja, which finishes with a great fire, meant to consume all negativity. Having eliminated obstacles, yesterday was the day for creating auspiciousness for the new year (Tibetan Losar) that begins today.
During the puja, I made prayers for all of my students, all those dear to me, those volunteering so much of their time, and my Facebook friends. I am wishing you all a very happy Losar. However, here we are not happily celebrating because of the passing of Kyabje Chadral Rinpoche and Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche.
For all of our brothers and sisters celebrating the lunar New Year, I am wishing you all a Happy New Year as well!
Sarva Mangalam,
Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche
