Then look out for our poll on Spond - we would like to see how many members are interested as a possible future club activity.

Para-Swimming National Pathway Engagement Day - 10th July

Dave Hill is a 2 x Paralympian in Swimming & Triathlon, he will discuss his career as a Para-athlete across two sports and now as a coach. If you’re interested in joining this workshop on Zoom, take a look at the leaflet here.

Meet the Team - Val - Competition Secretary

Unlike most of the other Committee Members I am afraid that I can hardly swim, in fact I am one of those who keeps their head up out of the water!

So how did I end up spending hours and hours as Competition Secretary for Truro City Swimming Club?  Well, I can only say that if you are going to have a son who swims to National Level you might as well get involved. So, I went from knowing little about swimming competitions and the systems used to run them, to being rather an expert.

Along the way I made many friendships and spent a lot of weekends away sitting poolside as do most swimming parents.  I thought my time of being involved with a swimming club was over, but Cathy had other ideas and finally convinced me I should be involved again.  I am delighted to say that Carrick Masters Swimming Club is an all-inclusive club, and I am going to enjoy being a part of the Club Committee.

Interesting facts:

  • I am a Qualified Teacher of Ballroom and Latin American Dancing.
  • I teach Private Lessons and shortly hope to resume running Practice Sessions and to teach Wedding Dances again very soon – I have missed these.
  • I am looking forward to reminding myself of all the rules etc that come with swimming and picking up the systems again.
