Something for everyone – The BCT in Central Brussels

Our on-going efforts to bring even more activities to Central Brussels have been successful: Now there are BCT playgroups at Holy Trinity in Ixelles, courses and classes at Elzenhof Community Center in Ixelles, local groups providing an active social life all over town, and popular family events like the Halloween Party on 29 October taking place at Le Fanal in Ixelles.

Over the summer, about a hundred BCT families got together for our ‘Around the World Picnic’ at Cinquantenaire Park, which was – as in previous years – a huge success thanks to the amazing effort and spirit of the volunteers who make the BCT a welcoming community and meeting point for families with young children.

But how do our members stay updated about our many activities such as this one? Easy! The weekly BCT agenda is emailed to all members, to be read anywhere. Also, our public page on Facebook is a good way to keep up to date with our activities and events. It is open to members and non-members alike.

The BCT Book – A guide for BCT members

Whether new parents or more established families, just arrived in Belgium or a long-time residents, full-time workers or stay-at-home carers, the BCT has something for everyone. With the new BCT Book we finally have the perfect means to help each of them to find those services and activities most beneficial to them and their individual circumstances.

Put together by our members for our members, this booklet brings together details of the different information resources, social activities and support networks we offer, as well as tips from members on how to best use them. Much of the information is also available on the BCT website but the booklet brings everything together and will help new members, who receive the BCT Book when they join, to make the most of what we offer.

Prenatal Courses – The birth of new friendships and support networks

The BCT Prenatal Courses, facilitated by our experienced Prenatal Teachers, are designed to give pregnant women and their partners information and practical tools so they can make informed decisions during the pregnancy and birth. They will help them to communicate more confidently with health professionals and to cope with the challenges of early parenthood.

But the course provides more than just information: In the relaxed atmosphere, parents-to-be can develop friendships and a support network. Additionally, their BCT membership makes them part of the whole BCT family network and gives them access to all our services and activities. Parents can then meet up for a chat, to share experiences and have their little ones play together at one of our many playgroups, local, interest or social and support groups.

More information about dates and how to register for our Prenatal Courses and about our different groups is available on the BCT’s website.

Nearly New Sale – 23 October

This second-hand market is one of the biggest in the Brussels area for children's, baby and maternity clothes as well as all kind of related equipment and toys. The quality is outstanding as every item is hand-checked in advance. The NNS is the BCT’s biggest fundraising event and, like any initiative of the BCT, is entirely run by volunteers.

But this sale is not only a great opportunity for buyers to find a bargain. It is also a good way to sell and/or donate those items you do not need anymore, but which are still in very good condition. It is open to everyone, members and non-members alike. The BCT website provides all the necessary information about the NNS: selling procedures and guidelines as well as the drop-off points in nearly every area of Brussels and its surroundings.

BCT Nearly New Sale:
