Flowers in Jazz
      The Lotus

Note: looks like there was a bug and the links from
this mail are not working,
here is the links, sorry and hopefully now will work, will be happy to
get and ok feedback.

would you expect to find a connection between the two?

For me Jazz is about the night, dark streets, tension, city light, excitement…flowers? Yes. Nat King Cole, Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus? Yes, John Coltrane too. They are all into flowers, some for a lady like Mingus, some for inspiration like the mysterious Pink Phalaenopsis for Coltrane. Others became the favourite type like the White Casablanca Lilies for Mary Lou Williams…now be sure you will get some examples, like Mary's ''love for sale'' opening, an exotic invitation to a dandy secret garden in Marrakech. So I admit to myself, Flowers goes with Jazz and Jazz is just fine with flowers, would you join me for a garden tour:

Love for Sale - listen

Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby Hackett - Trumpet

Mary Lou Williams - Piano

George Duvivier - Bass

Grady Tate - Drums

Flowers for a Lady - listen

Like a sunday winter walk in the park

Death and the flower

is an album by Keith Jarrett recorded during two sessions in October 1974, it takes some time to get into the next track but if you stay you suddenly find yourself in a little secret beautiful Jungle.

Listen here

From Keith Jarrett album inner sleeves:

We should try to be more
Like a flower
Which every day experiences its birth
And death
And who therefore is much more prepared
To live
The life of a flower

So think of Death as a friend and advisor

Who allows us to be born

And to bloom more radiantly

Because of our limits

On Earth

Last is  Miles Davis

He was more about Water Lilies but here is the Lotus Flower of Radiohead

infused with So what fragrance have a listen - here

Wish you all from Berlin
