Kickoff
This week marks the beginning of the official FRC Season with Kickoff this Saturday. For this year, we will be gathering on zoom to watch the broadcast. You should make every effort to try and join us for the broadcast but if you can't then the program will be available on Twitch and YouTube afterwards.
The actual Kickoff broadcast will be about 45 minutes long and then our plan is to keep the meeting open until about 2:00pm for some planning and questions.
Meetings and Getting Help
This week, we will having the following meetings:
Monday - 5:00pm-6:00pm - Programming
Monday - 5:00pm-6:30pm - Mechanical
Thursday - 5:30pm-7:00pm - All Team Meeting (Yes, this means you!)
Saturday - 12:00Noon-2:00pm - Kickoff and Season Planning
Details will be posted in the #general channel and #announcements channel prior to the meetings. Please make sure you plan accordingly. We will do our best to record them and post details into the #meeting_summary channel afterwards but we suggest showing up to the meetings and being an active participant to get the most out of the team.
In addition to the above times and meetings, we will also host "virtual open lab hours" on Thursdays from 5:30pm until 7:00pm. This time can be used to get help or just jump on and ask questions or get to know others on the team and we recommend you take advantage of it if you can.
You can also always ask for help from leadership students or mentors during the week in slack if you need it at any time.
COVID-19 Guidelines
The first thing you are going to want to do is read about our Meeting Guidelines for COVID. This will be required reading for all participants for the coming year. The executive summary is included below:
The Zebracorns have developed a plan for dealing with COVID-19 during the 2020/2021 season and beyond.
The overall goal is to reduce risk as much as possible while still providing to students as many of the benefits of the team as possible
The balance between risk and reward for students and mentors will be continually evaluated throughout the school year
The team will apply a set of rules which is at least as cautious as NCSSM guidelines and may be more strict in specific cases. NCSSM guidelines are available at https://www.ncssm.edu/protecting-our-community
We will have remote meetings be our primary mode of operation
In-person meetings will sometimes be necessary. When they occur they will
Be limited in size
Attempt to include the full set of students during the course of the season
Follow social distancing guidelines
Be restricted to NCSSM-approved mentors and residential NCSSM students
Require the use of PPE at all times (face masks and safety glasses)
Require pre-meeting temperature screening
Require hand sanitizing prior to start of meeting
Maintain data for contact tracing if needed
Clean up according to NCSSM standards before ending the meetings
Participations in competitions will be evaluated as more detail becomes available
Questions?
As always, if you have any questions, please send an email to mentors@team900.org.
Physical Lab Hours While we are under restrictions for COVID-19, Lab Hours will be limited.
