Kickoff!!!

It's here! Kickoff is here!!! Ok, technically, it's almost here but soon enough. What does that mean?  It means we get the complete set of rules for the year and we can begin our process of designing and building a robot, preparing for competitions, and having some serious fun (Is funny business also serious fun?).

We will begin Kickoff on Saturday, January 4th by opening the lab at 9:30AM. We will gather, watch the release livestream, and then get to work reading the rules and preparing for the competition.

If you are not able to attend kickoff, please be sure that you watch the kickoff video and read the rules thoroughly. We will likely be voting on the team's strategy Monday night, so you must be caught up to participate in the discussion.  

All forms must be turned in before kickoff - we really will not let you into the lab if you do not have your forms in so please get them dealt with. Please check the hours system if you are unsure about your form status. 

Build Season Meals

Hello Parents! Saturdays during build season are crazy days. The lab is usually open from noon until 9pm! That is a long time to go without food. We would love it if you would be willing to provide dinner on one of the Saturdays during build season. Our NCSSM students love getting a break from the dinning hall and our local students appreciate not having to leave the lab to go get dinner. 

Please fill out the spreadsheet here if you are willing to provide food. The attendance numbers are estimated based on previous years, over the next few weeks I will get a better feel for how many students we have on Saturdays this year. If you aren't local and wan't to help, that's great! Lots of places can do orders for delivery, or you can send money into the mentors that we will use to supply food. 

Some meals that have gone over well in previous years: Spaghetti, lasagna, taco bar, sandwiches, baked potatoes, and of course, pizza. Thank you in advance! Please remember to sign up so we know what to expect. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask mentors@team900.org

Next Week

Starting on Monday, we will be in the build season hours requirements portion of the year. You are expected to track your hours and log 10 hours per week in the lab. You can find the hours that the lab is open at the bottom of these emails.

Competitions

We are beginning to get questions about what competitions the team will be attending next year (2020).  We don't yet know the details for those events as we have only recently been able to sign up and been confirmed for those events.  We are still waiting on specifics such as hotels and transportation. We will be attending the ECU and Asheville district Events.

We do not have confirmed details for all of our events at the moment, please be patient with us while we get all of the information together and get registered for events.  We anticipate having some details available sometime in January. The events listed on the Team's Google Calendar available on team900.org are not necessarily events the team will be attending and are on the calendar for planning purposes.
