Kashmiri Gate, een markant monument in Delhi. De voormalige toegangspoort vanuit Kashmir, een van de 14 poorten die toegang gaf tot de oude stad. Nu een doodlopende weg na de aanleg van een busstation en de metro. 
Kashmiri Gate, the former entry gate to Delhi leading to and from Kashmir, one of the 14 former gates leading into the old city. Now a dead-end after the construction of a busstation and the metro in this Kashmere Gate area. Now to be visited still as monument.
Collectie 2015 / Collection 2015

Kashmir Heritage heeft voor 2015 weer een mooie collectie samengesteld van unieke en zorgvuldig gekozen textiele handwerken uit India.
Daar waar we in 2008 begonnen met uitsluitend fijn handborduurwerk, weefwerk en papiermache uit Kashmir (Noord-India), is de collectie inmiddels verbreed met mooi handwerk uit meerdere regio's in India: kantha borduurwerk, bandhani tie-and-dye, houten blockprintstempels, blockprintstoffen, quilts en gequilte jassen, zijden en katoenen sieraden en het jaar rond een selectie aan kwaliteitsshawls en fijne wollen plaids.
Door zelf ateliers te bezoeken en rechtstreeks in te kopen en te produceren, proberen we eerlijke omstandigheden voor de handwerker garanderen, en bieden we een eerlijke prijs voor u als klant.
De grootste keuze hebt u bij een bezoek een een van onze stand tijdens de beurzen. Indien u op de webshop niet direct vindt wat u zoekt, neem dan contact op, graag denken we met u mee.

Kashmir Heritage in 2015 again brings a unique and fine collection of textile crafts from India.
In 2008 we started off uniquely with the fine hand embroidery, kani-weaving and papier mache from Kashmir (North-India). Since then the collection has expanded and now represents multiple regions in India: kantha embroidery, bandhani tie-and-dye, wooden blockprints, blockprintfabrics, quilts and quilted jackets, silk and cotton jewelry and throughout the year quality shawls and fine woolen throws.
By visiting workshops and procuring ad producing locally, we try to garantuee fair trade practises to craftspeople, and also offer you the best possible prices.
The biggest choice you will find, is by coming to one of our fairs. If you cannot find in the webshop what you are looking for, please contact us. We like to show you all the options.
Houten stempels / Wooden blockprints

Onze collectie houten handgesneden stempels is weer uitgebreid. Nu hebben we ook zeer fijn gesneden blocks van een meesteratelier. De grootste keuze heeft u tijdens onze beurzen, maar ook op de webshop vindt u een collectie stempels. U wilt een eigen motief laten snijden? Aarzel dan niet om contact op te nemen.

Our collection of wooden blockprints again expanded, this time with real fine carvings from a mastercarver. You can find blocks in our webshop, but the biggest choice and specials is at our exhibitions. If you want your own design to be carved, please contact us.
In India haalt men veel inspiratie uit de natuur voor het mooie handwerk.
In India a lot of inspiration for handcrafts is drawn from nature.

Handwerken zonder Grenzen

Vorige week verscheen weer een nieuwe uitgave van het magazine Handwerken zonder Grenzen nr. 187 met daarin dit keer in de serie 'Textiel in India' een artikel over het mooie kantha borduurwerk uit West-Bengalen door Joes Meester. Een eenvoudige borduursteek met groot effect. Van ons had u ook nog tegoed de aankondiging van het vorige editie in de serie 'Textiel in India' nummer 186 met daarin een interessante uiteenzetting over het fijne wit-op-wit borduurwerk uit Lucknow (chikankari borduurwerk) door Rhoxane Hondius. Beide nummers zijn aanbevelenswaardig en nog steeds verkrijgbaar: www.handwerkenzondergrenzen.nl

Last week a new edition of the Dutch magazine Handwerken zonder Grenzen was published, ed. 187 in the series Textiles in India, this time on the beautiful kantha embroidery from West-Bengal by Joes Meester. A simple stitch with big effect. Also we still want to mention the publication of edition 186 on the refined chikankari embroidery from Lucknow by Rhoxane Hondius. Quilts uit India / Indian quilts
Sinds kort heeft Kashmir Heritage quilts en gequilte jassen uit India. Fair trade gemaakt door een Women Selfhelp Group. Zij vergroten zo hun economische zelfstandigheid en onafhankelijkheid. Uit voorraad leverbaar of op bestelling te laten maken.
Starting this Spring, Kashmir Heritage has quilts and quilted jackets from India. Made fair trade by a Women Selfhelp Group. Help to support their (economical) independance. Available from stock and made to order.
Mahatma Gandhi's sterfdag, 30 januari, geldt als nationale gedenkdag in India / Mahatma Gandhi's date of death, 30 January, is commemorated as a Martyrs' Day in India
