De collectie en activiteiten van Kashmir Heritage zijn dit jaar weer flink uitgebreid. Waar we ooit in 2008 begonnen met een collectie hoogwaardige handgeweven kani shawls en handgeborduurde shawls en jassen uit Kashmir, groeide de collectie ambachtelijk handwerk uit India sindsdien steeds verder. Elk jaar laten we nog steeds in opdracht papiermache artikelen als kerstballen en eieren in Kashmir maken.
Jaarlijks komen we een aantal maal in India om ateliers te bezoeken, in te kopen en productie te begeleiden. Tijdens onze reizen doen we natuurlijk nog steeds ontdekkingen, waardoor de collectie zich ook nog steeds uitbreidt. In de loop van de tijd tonen we steeds wisselende collecties shawls, jassen, fijne wollen plaids, sieraden, tassen en sinds 2012 een uitgebreide collectie houten handgestoken blockprints om stof, papier en keramiek mee te bedrukken. We laten de blocks bij twee ateliers maken, waaronder bij een atelier van een meester-houtsnijder. Behalve de verkoop van de blockprints, bieden we inmiddels ook een serieus aanbod aan workshops aan. Regelmatig hebben we ook vintage en antieke stoffen en kunstobjecten in het aanbod.
Bijzonder om te noemen is dat we dit jaar de primeur hebben in Nederland met het laten maken van een originele handgemaakte sits in India. In onze volgende nieuwsbrief volgt hier meer informatie over. Als sieraden hebben we dit jaar ook een nieuwe collectie: 'Amsterdam Heritage', zilveren sieraden gemaakt van keramische scherven die gevonden zijn bij de metro-aanleg in de jaren zestig en zeventig van de vorige eeuw in Amsterdam.
Omdat we graag samenwerken, is dit jaar i.s.m. een groep Europese ontwerpers een mooie eerste serie jassen van vintage Indiase quilts (Gudari's) van de grond gekomen. Eind deze maand vindt de presentatie daarvan plaats in Soest. Meer informatie daarover vindt u hieronder.
Verkoop is gebleven zoals deze is, via een breed scala aan kwaliteitsbeurzen en in beperkte mate via de webshop. Via onze Facebookpagina en Instagram account kunt u genieten van mooie foto's en actueel nieuws.
The collection and activities of Kashmir Heritage grew again this year. Since we started out in 2008 with a high quality handwoven kani shawls and hand embroidered shawls and jackets from Kashmir, the collection of handcrafted quality products from India grew extensively. Each year we still have made our own collection of seasonal papiermache balls and eggs in Kashmir.
Each year we travel to India a few times to visit workshops, for buying and manage production. During these trips we still discover new craft products which we adopt in our collection. Over the years we have shown a ever changing collection of fine shawls, jackets, woolen throws, jewelry and bags. Since 2012 we have wooden hand carved blockprints in our collection to imprint paper, fabric and ceramics. We have them made at two workshops, one of which is a master carver. Besides sales of blockprints, we also have a serious offering of (professional) workshops in blockprinting. Regularly we have vintage and antique fabrics an art objects on offer.
Special is that this year we had the scoop of producing a genuine handmade chintz in India, a long lost technique, much replicated by machine but now back as real hand work. In our next newsletter we will highlight the outcome of that project.
As jewelry this year we made the collection named 'Amsterdam Heritage', silver jewelry made from antique shards found during the construction of the metro in the sixties and seventies in Amsterdam soil.
As we love cooperating in creative projects, this year we present a first series of jackets by a group of European designers made from vintage India quilts (called gudari). End of November we present the outcome of that cooperation in Soest (NL). Underneath you find more information on the presentation.

Vintage Gudari jassen
Als klant van Kashmir Heritage weet u dat we steeds uniek en ambachtelijk handwerk uit India brengen. Ook nu weer kwam er iets bijzonders op ons pad. Afgelopen april vonden we in India doorleefde vintage quilts, gudari’s genaamd. Deze doorgestikte, dubbelzijdige maar soepele dekens inspireerden ons om een aantal ontwerpers uit te nodigen er unieke jassen van te maken. Deze gelaagde dekens met een vorig leven krijgen zo een nieuw leven in de vorm van een exclusieve jas.
Gewaardeerde ontwerpers Annelies de Ridder, Margreet Gerbens, Sa|Ga en Ine Keitz ontwierpen en maakten er mooie en bijzondere jassen van met veel eigenheid. Elke jas is uniek.
Op vrijdagavond 25 november a.s. presenteren we tussen 19-21 uur de eerste collectie in een historische boerenhofstede in Soest. Wij zouden het heel leuk vinden als u er ook bij bent. Tijdens deze avond laat Kashmir Heritage ook een keuze uit haar collectie handgeborduurde jassen uit Kashmir zien, evenals enkele katoenen gequilte jassen en vintage kimono's.
Vintage Gudari jackets
As a customer of Kashmir Heritage you are familiar with our unique handcrafted collection from India. This time we found again something special. Last April in India we came across vintage Indian quilts, called gudaris. These double faced, layered but supple blankets inspired us to invite designers to make jackets out of them. These layered blankets with a past, thus get a new live in the form of an uniquely designed vest.
Esteemed designers Annelies de Ridder, Margreet Gerbens, Sa-Ga and Ine Keitz designed and made unique jackets with personality. Each jacket is a singular piece. Some vintage quilts had up to 5 layers of cotton, sometimes underlying designs still shine through. It was a challenge to use the existing embroideries, designs and weaving patterns at their best. The models they came up with are wearable, flattering en they can be repeated with similar vintage quilts.
Friday evening the 25th of November upcoming between 19-21 o clock we will present the first collection in an old farmstead in Soest (NL). We are looking forward to your presence. Het echtpaar Shilpa and Praful Shah staat bekend om hun grote en uitzonderlijke verzameling antiek en vintage Indiaas textiel (de TAPI-collectie). En behalve dat, om hun actieve houding die collectie te conserveren en te laten onderzoeken. Een uitkomst is bv het boek 'Kashmir Shawls : The Tapi Collection', een standaardwerk over de waardering en classificering van de Kashmir shawl.
The Indian couple Shilpa and Praful Shah are renowned for their extensive and exceptional collection of vintage and antique Indian textiles (the TAPI-collection). But even more for their proactive approach in conserving and having their collection researched by experts in this distinct area. An outcome of their work is for example the standard reference book: 'Kashmir Shawls : The Tapi Collection', on the valuation, appreciation and classification of Kashmir shawls.

Het interessante digitale keramiekmagazine de Kleine K besteedde in het oktobernummer een artikel aan de keramische sieraden die Nathalie Cassee maakte onder de noemer 'Amsterdam Heritage' (p. 24-25). De scherven zijn afkomstig uit Amsterdamse bodem en door haar omgetoverd tot zilveren sieraden.

'Amsterdam Heritage' sterling zilveren hangers
Amsterdams Venduhuis de Eland is opgericht in 1796 en is daarmee één van de oudste veilinghuizen van Nederland.
Tijdens de november veiling organiseren zij een Amsterdam Special. Daar tonen zij naast stadsgezichten ook aan Amsterdam gerelateerde objecten, zoals Amsterdamse School meubelen, Amsterdamse roosdiamanten en Amsterdams zilver.
Eigenlijk alles binnen het Amsterdamse thema. Zo ook een selectie van onze 'Amsterdam Heritage' collectie zilveren hangers. Welke dat zijn, kunt u zien op de kijkdagen van 17 - 20 november a.s. aan de Weesperstraat 110 te Diemen.

The Amsterdam Auction house De Eland is founded in 1796 and is one of the oldest auction house of The Netherlands. In their November auction they have an 'Amsterdam' theme. Besides Amsterdam city scenes, they also display related objects like Amsterdam School furniture, Amsterdam rose diamonds and Amsterdam silver.
As one of the Amsterdam related objects, they will also display a selection of our 'Amsterdam Heritage' collection of silver hangers. Which there will be, you can find out during the viewing days between 17 - 20 November upcoming at the Weesperstraat 110 in Diemen (NL)
