Keep abreast of the International Bible Teaching ministry, and learn about faith, in just minutes a week.
Atlanta, 5 October 2016

I'd originally expected to be in Ghana today, after a few days in Zambia. However, plans changed when hospice care told us that my mother, Anita Jacoby (84), in the final stages of Alzheimer's, had only a few days to live.

I was sad to cancel. Although the groups in Lusaka (Zambia) and Accra (Ghana) are understandably disappointed, they are also abundantly sympathetic. I will try to reschedule for 2017.

Modifying the trip gave me one extra day in Johannesburg, so I was able to preach Sunday before heading to the airport for the first of three flights en route to Atlanta. I'll share more about the time in South Africa and Lesotho next week.

At this moment I'm at my mother's bedside. Family have been in from Nicaragua and around the US. She became a Christian back in 1979, in my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. We will hold a memorial service there, probably sometime next week.

So... no scriptural lesson this week. Hopefully you'll receive the usual bulletin on the 12th. Thanks for understanding.
