Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Our Thanksgiving dinner project was a great success. With the support of many in the community (you can see all those involved here), we were able to fully cook a turkey plus all the sides and distribute to 50 families. As you can imagine cooking 50 turkeys at once is no small feat and we all made it happen. Many families are without the means to cook a meal like this, so this was a big deal for them.
Thanks to everyone involved!


Classes & Educational Opportunities -

As we write our newsletter we are busy gearing up for a number of classes in December and throughout the new year.

KAM Cooking Series - 
We are developing a schedule for our popular series of hands-on cooking classes to be held at KAM Appliances in Hyannis, Past classes have included grilling, soups, cheesemaking, and more.  Be sure to check out our event calendar regularly to see what's going on. Items will be added as details are finalized.  You can also follow us on Eventbrite for easy access to ticketing links.

Youth Cooking Series -
Remember that grant we received for youth culinary education? Last spring we worked with middle schoolers.  This fall we've been working with the YMCA’s Y Achievers program: cooking, meal planning & grocery shopping with 10 high schoolers. They have taken a food handling course and are now starting to work in the commercial kitchen at Faith Family Community Kitchen. They also participated in a Breakfast with Santa event.


For the food maker entrepreneur –
Starting in January we have a series of business classes scheduled for Thursday evenings at Cape Tech in Harwich.  These are geared to the culinary entrepreneur and cover everything from Entrepreneurship to Finance, Marketing, Sales, Technology, Operations, etc – check the lineup and sign up here.

If you are starting a food based business and have questions and recognize some areas where you need help, we have lined up a group of experts in each of these fields to meet with the group and share experiences and best practices.

Culinary Skills Series - 
We have all heard and read of the struggles restaurants are having getting enough qualified help --- we are going to try & do something about it. Starting in February, we will be presenting a Basic Course in Kitchen Skills.  This is targeted at the individual who wants to work in the culinary field.  The curriculum and details can be found here.

Related to the worker shortage, Brian Tarcy of Cape Cod Wave did a good piece on this problem including restaurant owner interviews and very directly hit on the problems facing the industry and the labor crunch.


Membership in CCCI

For the new year, we have re-tooled our membership packages which you will be hearing more about.  All our members will receive discounts to our events and classes.  Plus there will be some new food maker events in 2020 where our Food Maker members will be showcasing their products and goodies.  Take a look at the member options & consider joining us!
