Summer = Sun, Sand &

We let go of a lot of things in the summer. Rigid work schedules (if we're lucky!), children's bedtimes, housekeeping...because when we finally get our summer months, we want to savour them over sangrias in the sun!

But we set ourselves up for success in later months if we take opportunities to maintain things like our skincare, and healthy diet and exercise habits. Stop by the clinic to stock up on some Skinceuticals products; backed by science and created from decades of skin cancer research, these products are your best bet for protection from the outdoors. Because we want you to be outside, of course!

It's also a good idea to come in for a nutritional consult if you're worried about consuming too many 'treats' at all those BBQs you have lined up. We have so many brilliant ideas of easy switches you can make for optimal health this summer. Don't let your weight loss goals fall by the wayside - we are here to support you! And now you can follow our special Instagram account featuring weight loss content. Just look for us at @poloweightloss.

Tips For Staying Hydrated

We don't need to tell you that it's important to stay hydrated in warm weather (and all year 'round) but we thought we'd share some tips that go beyond just carrying your water bottle around with you.
  • Infuse your water with flavour: use fresh fruits (not artificial sweeteners) and take your water to the next level. Makes it easier to sip throughout the day when it feels refreshing and interesting!
  • Drink before you eat. It's easy to confuse hunger with thirst because of the types of signals our bodies send off when we need our thirst quenched. Instead of reaching for a snack, reach for a glass of water.
  • Choose foods that have a high water content. Cucumbers make excellent crunchy snacks in the summer. So do apples, cantaloupe, strawberries, and celery.
  • Fill up on pre-soaked chia seeds! How's this for a magic tip? Chia seeds soak up an enormous amount of water and then release the water in your system throughout the day. Perfect for a day when you're going to be out in the sun for an extended period of time.
  • A happy gut helps you stay hydrated too (and does wonders for your skin!) so don't skip out on your probiotics even when your schedule relaxes.
