Dear student

Congratulations on making it this far in the process of your global mobility program! To help you prepare for your upcoming semester (or two) at RMIT University, we have put together some important information for you below. We will be sending you weekly updates, so make sure you read everything carefully.

1. Courses with Early Start Dates

Some courses start early on 8 February 2016.  
(In particular Fashion courses from Associate Degree programs).
Check your course selection to make sure that you arrive on time!  


As RMIT runs on two academic calendars - Vocational Education (VE) and Higher Education (HE), it is important you are aware if you will be studying any undergraduate courses from the VE calendar. This includes courses from our Associate Degree programs.  
All VE courses commence early on 8 February 2016.

If you are commencing your courses earlier and have any questions, feel free to drop into the Global Mobility desk:
When: 5 February 2016, from 10am to 3pm
Where: Desk 7, Info Corner, Building 22, Ground Floor, 330 Swanston St, City campus
 

* The latest you can arrive to study these courses is 19 February 2016.  
2. Your RMIT login
 
 
 
Login to the RMIT network and myRMIT (student portal) using your RMIT ID (refer to your offer letter) and password.
3. My Community
 
RMIT is launching a new website, My Community, where you can ASK, ANSWER and SHARE! Click on the icon  to contribute to the community.
 
4. Accommodation and Arrival Matters
 
RMIT has a comprehensive accommodation website to help you find out about temporary and long term accommodation options. View a full range of housing options on the accommodation website and the RMIT Housing Database

Please Note:
- You need to sign in using your RMIT login (see instructions above) to view accommodation provider contact details in the Housing Database.
- It is recommended that you do not arrange long term accommodation until you have arrived in Melbourne and have completed an inspection to ensure that the accommodation is genuine.

5. Your courses at RMIT

The course approval process is currently underway and you will be notified of the outcome of the courses you have selected in the next 2-3 weeks. Please note that you are NOT encouraged to enrol into courses until receiving confirmation of your approved courses.

The next update will include further instructions on the following topics relating to:
1. Completing your enrolment checklist
2. Selecting and enrolling into your courses with either pre-approved or recommended statuses (subject to availability)
3. Viewing your personal class schedule
6. FREE airport pick-up
 
All newly commencing RMIT international students are offered a free airport pick up.
Please ensure you have confirmed your accommodation arrangements before booking the pick-up service.
7. Orientation 
 
Get set for an action-packed Orientation program with events and activities for you to dive into the academic and social experiences of campus life, meet loads of new friends and get a taste of Australian culture:

Tuesday 16 February: Explore RMIT
Sessions cover enrolment & timetabling, academic and support services for students, accommodation and rental advice, student visa rights and responsibilities, special key note speaker, and more.

Wednesday 17 February:
Explore Melbourne
Learn everything you need to know about living in Melbourne including health & safety, travelling around Australia, Aussie Sporting Culture and more.

Thursday 18 February:
Explore Victoria*
Enjoy a day trip to one of Victoria’s most iconic sights, while getting to know your peers. Limited places available, so be sure to book to secure your place.
*Last day for bookings is Friday 12 February 2016.

8. Science Without Borders Brazilian Students

All Science Without Borders students from Brazil will have a different Orientation program on the mornings of Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 February.  Please refer to the specific Science Without Borders Orientation schedule and venues.
9. Late arrivals
 
If you are arriving late and will miss Orientation, email global.mobility@rmit.edu.au to advise us of your arrival date. We will be holding a late orientation on Tuesday 8 March 2016. More information will be provided at a later stage.

The last day to arrive and commence your studies at RMIT (except for courses with an earlier start date) is Friday 11 March 2016.
