Message From Our Chapter President

Season’s Greetings! 

This is our final newsletter for this year and it certainly has been a very memorable year!  Many are looking forward to 2021 with hopes of a brighter year. 

In November, we had a successful AGM and welcomed two new board members.  We also held our 2020/2021 Board Kick-off meeting later in November and reviewed our goals and priorities.  Each Board member was assigned their areas of responsibilities and eager to continue to create meaningful engagement and learning opportunities for our Chapter.  An event calendar was created with the goal of establishing recurring events on specific days each month so members are able to hold time in their calendars for these events.  I am proud of our Greater Vancouver Chapter and believe we have a strong foundation that we will continue to grow and mature. 

Thank you to all of you for your support and commitment to our Association and profession.  I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season!

Advanced Practitioner Presentation Series

Exciting news!
Starting in January 2021, we will kick off a series of sessions to support change leadership competency development in our community. Sessions will be member-led and leverage the knowledge and experience of advanced change practitioners in our own chapter to present topics to our membership and change leaders from our community throughout the year.
Topics for the session series were developed in September 2020 via our Advanced Practitioner event. A group of our advanced change management practitioners co-created a list of 10+ coaching topics that could be used as resources for our fellow chapter members and Change Leaders. In addition to helping generate the topic list, these advanced practitioners also volunteered to host the sessions throughout 2021.
Topics for the sessions include:
  • Using KPIs and business outcomes to drive shared accountability for change
  • Activities to support resilience building/combating change burnout
  • Connecting strategy and change
  • Creating effective feedback loops with stakeholders
  • Defining and measuring accountability in the change process
A special thank you to all the members who have volunteered to offer a session.
Sessions will be open to ACMP members with the first scheduled for the week of January 25. Registration details and a full schedule will be coming soon.

This is a member-only event so members will receive a meeting invitation with zoom link from the ACMP Vancouver email. 
Session overview
2020 had been a volatile year. At times it has felt apocalyptic with the global pandemic, fires, political unrest and protests. Many people have endured hardships such as illness, isolation, job disruption and the challenge of caregiving while working. We have also seen amazing examples of human resilience, creativity and innovation. In this change conversation, we will reflect on our personal experience in 2020.
Please bring a personal artifact for sharing with a small group (show-and-tell) that represents something meaningful to you about 2020. We will talk about what surprised us and what sustains us.

Lean Change Agent Workshop Overview
Today’s change managers and leaders want to know how to change faster to keep up with a constantly increasing pace of change and disruption. Lean Change Agent is designed to help you take the best ideas from Agile, Lean Startup, Change Management, and Design Thinking to help you create an approach to change that is compatible with your organization, and the change you’re working on.

Course Duration: February 2 – March 9, 2021
Online Sessions: Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (six sessions)
Delivery: This course is conducted online through a flexible combination of self-study and virtual facilitator-led sessions.

Mentoring Pilot Program


We are pleased to share that in early 2021 we will be launching a pilot phase of a mentorship program for our members with 1-3 years of change management experience.
One of the goals for ACMP Great Vancouver Chapter is to Deepen connections and networks with other change management practitioners’, another is to ‘Increase knowledge of Change management’. The Board is in full support of a mentorship program, as it will make a great contribution to both these goals.
During the pilot phase, we would like to work with up to 4 change practitioners who are early in their career and feel their change practice development and growth would benefit from individual connections with an advanced practitioner. If this sounds like you then look out for further information coming in mid-December.
We will be using an expression of interest process to identify people to participate in the pilot phase and following the pilot hope to be able to expand the program to offer this opportunity to a wider group of practitioners.

Participants learn how to position change as absolutely essential to project success as well as how to engage project managers to help action critical change moments that matter that have a significant impact on project success. Participants walk away with practical learning that can immediately be applied to enhance any change professionals toolkit!
