Good Afternoon!

The holiday season is fast approaching and we have been super busy preparing for our final event of the year, as well as beginning work on next year's happenings!

First and foremost, early voting started yesterday. There are nine constitutional amendments presented on the ballot and one of particular importance is Proposition 6, which allows for the creation of the State Water Implementation Fund. The Chamber Board of Directors has passed a resolution supporting the passage of this Proposition, as it has a huge impact on the future of Texas. More details about this proposition can be found below.

You might have heard that Christmas lights will again be adorning the historic courthouse square. Our board listened to your requests, so they asked for and were granted permission to move the lights back to the square from Richards Park. While the trail of lights will likely be missed by many, a decorated square reminds even more of tradition and home. We'll be spending the next month with our city crews, planning and installing those decorations.

Our directors will attend orientation and strategic planning sessions in early December. We are excited to come up with our new program of work and if there is anything that you would like to see our office accomplish not only in the upcoming year, but over the next few as well, please let us know. We certainly value the feedback!

As always, if you need anything, we are just a phone call or an email away. We look forward to speaking with you soon!

Respectfully,

Erin Corbell
Director, Chamber of Commerce and Finance
Chamber Supports Proposition 6

The Brady/ McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce board of directors has passed a resolution supporting Proposition 6 on the November ballot. Proposition 6 authorizes a one-time investment from the state’s Economic Stabilization Fund (also known as the Rainy Day Fund) in order to make the financing of water projects affordable, as well as providing consistent financial assistance for water supplies.

The Texas Water Development Board would administer the funds for projects addressed in the State Water Plan. No less than 20% of the fund must be used for water conservation and reuse projects, with an additional 10% to serve rural areas. The fund would help protect businesses, farmers, and ranchers against future drought, and provide the water that the state needs to attracts jobs and grow and support the economy.

If the fund is not created, the Texas water supply won’t be enough to meet the demand of an ever growing population. There could also be a tremendous negative economic impact, at an estimated $116 billion in the year 2060.

December Shop Local Program is Back!

Last year, the Chamber unveiled a Shop Local reward program for receipts turned in to our office from Chamber members during the holiday season. We’re excited to bring that program back again this year! For every $100 spent with a member of the Chamber of Commerce, shoppers will receive one entry into a drawing for $100. The receipts must be dated within the eligible week, and a winner will be drawn and contacted on Friday. This year, entries will be limited to 10 per person per week.

Contest dates are:
November 29th- December 5th
December 6th- December 12th
December 13th- December 19th

A special drawing will be held on Thursday, December 12th for participants in our Ladies’ Night Out. More details will be released on that soon!
