MAP Architecture and Planning was awarded the role of Lead Consultant for the sailing club after winning a design competition in 2012. The scheme represents a sustainable, ecological solution with full access to users with disabilities and meets the current Government Bureau policy.
In response to the very complex design and safety requirements, MAP has created a resort style clubhouse that is in harmony with the natural surroundings of the site but provides the essential accommodation required to train elite sailors. MAP received Approval in Principle for the design in 2015 as a result of working closely with the Club members and the Home Affairs Bureau.
Edward Billson, MAP's Founder and Managing Director is leading the consultancy team and providing the Authorised Person "AP" advice. Edward is coordinating more than twenty required government submissions with Hyder Consultant Engineers.
The MAP design not only meets the HK Government policy directives but also creates a beautiful environment for enjoying the sport of sailing. The new marina will allow more international regattas to be hosted enhancing Hong Kong’s reputation for world class yachtsmen and sailing facilities.
