November 2019

Hello and welcome to the second last edition of our Monthly Leadership Tips for 2019: your 'once a month'  'bite-sized' chunks of practical leadership wisdom!

This month's 'Leadership Bite' is a follow up to the October leadership bite titled - Are you putting holes in your stress bucket? That bite shared the visual to help you take stock of how full your stress bucket was. This month's bite - De-Stress Tips provides suggestions for how to put some 'holes' in your stress bucket, framed around the 5 wellsprings of resilience. Following the same format of previous Leadership Bites, this one also uses the simple format of sharing one of our simple info-visuals, then it provides a brief overview of the concept, why it is useful and how to apply it. This 'bite' can be saved and printed off as a PDF. Feel free to use it in team meetings, coaching sessions or workshops! We then also share two blogs that we think you'll find of value.

This month we share :
  • Leadership Bites - De-Stress Tips
  • A link to a blog about finding the 'Coachable moment'
  • A new DiA Discoveries posts - exploring the phrase "I think..." and how you can choose to respond rather than react in these moments - facilitating better outcomes for all involved
Found something useful? Why not pay it forward and share a copy with your colleagues! Forward a copy of this email or send this link to join the DiA Monthly Leadership Tips list!

We also use the content we share each month, in the work we do in our consulting practice. Feel free to get in touch to find out more about anything in this newsletter or other blogs on our website.  Enjoy!

"I think..."

‘I think…therefore I am’, so goes the famous quote.  ‘I think…therefore I’m about to present an opinion as a fact’ might be an alternative version of this quote!

This new DiA Discoveries post asks you to start noticing when others start using this phrase, and offers some ideas to help you to think about how you might respond to seek to understand (as oppose to instinctively react) so as to increase the chances of engaging in a productive conversation.

Finding the Coachable Moment

One of the challenges for a leader is to know when ‘coaching’ is the tool to pull out of the kit bag. How do you recognise the ‘coachable moment’? Is this a moment when you can help someone else with their thinking?
