December 2021 Edition
New for LAGS in 2022

Sale of Notecards and Unframed Works!
There will be two new areas in the gallery in the 2022 season for the sale of notecards ($5-10) and unframed works (minimum price $30, and maximum size 20”x30”).

The gallery will purchase notecards from interested members at 50% of the selling price in late March.

Members will be able to register unframed works in March and again in June and these will remain in a rack until sold, or will be picked up at the end of the season.

The number of notecards and/or unframed works per member will be determined by the level of interest and available space.

Interested members should email:

Vanessa & Jane at
before February 15th, 2022.

More details to come!

Attention Members!

Are you interested in working with children? The Lunenburg Art Gallery Society has been approached with an opportunity to participate in a summer program for kids sponsored by the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic.

The idea is to offer activities and programs introducing participants to the museum and other organizations in the town, in conjunction with the Lunenburg Art Gallery Society, the Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation, the Lunenburg Library, the South Shore Ship Modeler’s Guild and the Fisheries Museum Heritage Interpreters.

This volunteer instructor position would involve putting together some art workshops at the museum next summer. This would be 2 days per week for children 8 -12 years of age. They would have an opportunity to draw, paint, create fun & serious marine, nautical subject matter. The program content would be further developed by the artist. A monthly gallery would allow kids to show parents and family members what they have done. A budget will be set for this to help with cost of supplies and programs and times would be set by the artists.

This is a wonderful chance for the right artist or artists to get involved in the future creativity of youth in our area.

LAGS Off-Season Gallery Rentals Available!

From Secretary, Les French

A valuable membership benefit is the chance to rent our spectacular Gallery in the off-season.

Members pay a very reasonable rental fee and then retain 100% of their sale proceeds.

We have 8 days booked during Jan & Feb, so there are still lots of great opportunities.

You can check availability on our website at

The rental application is also on our website. It's a fillable PDF file which can be completed online - on most devices - and emailed back to me at If that doesn't work on your device, just print the form, complete it, and scan it back - or send me a photo of it from your phone. It doesn't have to be pretty - just legible – and I don’t need the original form.

We want to be fair to all Members. If you're interested in booking, send me an email with the dates you'd like -
secretary@lunenburgartsociety.caIf they’re available, I'll hold the dates for 48 hours, giving you time to submit your rental application and get your fee paid, to secure your booking.

The rental fee e-transfer address is the same as for membership dues, and it’s shown on the rental form If you're unable to do an e-transfer, we'll work with you.

I’m keeping a cancellation list, so if your preferred rental date is already gone, just let me know, and I’ll put you on my list. You might still “luck out”.

Our rental program helps the Gallery, too. Even though we usually have only an 8-month exhibition season, we have 12 months of expenses. Rental fees help us keep the doors open.

Good luck for your every success!

Membership does have privileges!
