Our October Show is Coming to an End!

Thank you members for a fabulous last show and end of season participation! October was a very busy and successful month!

There are still two weeks left of this show and we've had a few last-minute cancellations for gallery sitters. If you can do a shift at the end of the month please sign up here: And a GIANT THANK-YOU to all who have volunteered in 2021!

Outtake is scheduled for October 31 and November 1, 2021 from 1 - 4pm. Because this is the last show of the season, please be sure to pick up your unsold work on or before these noted days. (If you need to pick your work up earlier please let us know at

First Annual LAGS Art Supplies Swap!

October 31, 2021 - Noon-5

Do you have old/unused/open art supplies taking up valuable studio space? Easels, frames or canvases? Ink, pastels, paints, pens, brushes, paper, vellum, rollers, stretchers, tools, clay, knives, chisels, adhesives, varnishes, panels, old paintings that can be painted over?

During our last outtake day of the season, bring in any unwanted art supplies to the gallery and we'll have a members supply swap. Like leave a penny/take a penny only with oil sticks and watercolour paper. If you can't make it on outtake day (October 31, noon - 5) you can pick up your artwork a day or two early and bring your supplies then too.

Dig out as much as you can as all leftover art supplies will be donated to local schools!

Fabric artist, Liza Hageraats, is featured in Small Stuff at the Lunenburg Art Gallery during the month of October.  She incorporates wool fiber and silk in her latest work.

The hands-on process of making felt from scratch creates material which can be turned into clothing, jewelry, purses, vases, bowls, pillows, and other accessories or home decor items.

Her fabric and silk are sometimes hand painted with French silk paint or Sumi-e ink. Some of her pieces are Eco-printed, a process that involves actual vegetation.

This display is a tactile pleasure to the touch and a feast for the eyes. Thank you Liza for this delightful exhibition!

LAGS Off-Season Gallery Rentals Available!

From Secretary, Les French

One of our valuable membership benefits is the chance to rent our spectacular Gallery in the off-season: Members pay a very reasonable rental fee and then retain 100% of their sale proceeds.

We currently have confirmed bookings for the following dates:
Nov 2,9,16,18-28 and the 30th.
Dec 6-12 and Dec 16-Jan 2

Our rental dates run the four months, Nov-Feb so the dates not mentioned are available to you!

This opportunity seems to be coming on the radar for our members, with a rash of bookings confirmed this past week

The rental application is on our website and is a fillable PDF file which can be completed online - on most devices - and emailed back to me at If that doesn't work on your device, just print the form, complete it, and scan it back - or send me a photo of it from your phone. It doesn't have to be pretty - just legible – and I don’t need the original form.

We want to give all Members a fair chance. If you're interested in booking, send me an email with the dates you'd like - If they’re available, I'll hold the dates for 48 hours, giving you time to submit your rental application and get your fee paid, when your booking will be confirmed.

The rental fee e-transfer address is (the same as for membership dues) and is shown on the rental form.
If you're unable to send an e-transfer, we'll do our best to work something out. I plan to keep a cancellation list, so if your preferred rental date is already gone, just let me know, and I’ll put you on my list. You might still “luck out”.

And remember, our rental program is good for the Gallery too. Even though we usually have only an 8- month exhibition season, we have 12 months of expenses – a perennial operating challenge! Rental fees help us keep the doors open!

Good luck for your every success in this upcoming rental season!

Membership does have privileges!

Heather Drysdale (

“At the Lunenburg Art Gallery”
194B Lincoln Street, Lunenburg

Life is never Black and White, nor is it always full of colour, unless you are a pen and ink artist or a colourist.

CONTRASTS is a show celebrating the artistic expressions of a mother / daughter team both of whom are self taught artists each expressing themselves in completely different ways.

Danielle LeBlanc, of Shattered Scale Creations,
is a mother of two rowdy young boys and numerous animals, finding micro moments in her day to work on her art. Her everyday struggle with maintaining a functioning household helps fuel her passion for creating detailed fantasy pieces.

Her inspiration comes from the simple but natural surroundings found in everyday life and mixes them with her limitless imagination.
Danielle favours pen and ink as her preferred medium to create powerful pieces. She brings together darkness and light to symbolize conflict and harmony and bridges the balance between them.

Danielle works from her home in Middle Sackville, NS. Heather Drysdale, of Heather Drysdale Studios, is a self-taught Muralist and Faux Finish Artist and has worked over 35 years as a Decorative Painter leaving her distinguished mark in homes and businesses throughout Atlantic Canada.

Drysdale’s lifelong exploration of colour, texture and pattern has influenced her current abstract paintings that are bold, moody and electric. She creates with childlike abandon drawing inspiration from her visual memories gathered during her travels and wanderings.
Her Abstracts have found homes in North America and Europe.
Heather’s studio is located in Middle LaHave, NS.
