Piping Weekend in Talbot
Bookings are now open for the Talbot Piping Weekend on 2-4 August.
Held in the tiny town of Talbot "where the gold rush began", the weekend will provide opportunities to get together with other pipers and share tunes, ideas, tips and laughs. The weekend will be ideal for players of, or people interested in, the Scottish smallpipes, uilleann pipes, Northumbrian smallpipes or any other form of Celtic pipes. This includes both mouth-blown and bellows-blown instruments.
The weekend programme will include music workshops, maintenance, meals, socialising, informal playing and a very special concert.
The concert will feature the Taliska Trio as headline act supported by a program of fine piping from participants at the first-ever Talbot Piping Weekend. Taliska is a delightful Scottish folk band including Scottish smallpipes, fiddle, guitar and singing. The group have recently released their second album 'Home... where the music is' at the National Celtic Festival. The band have played at festivals, gigs and weddings across Australia and bring a touch of Scotland everywhere they play.
Through musical exploration and collaboration, pipers participating in the Piping Weekend will be presenting new arrangements and old favourites at the concert
. So get your thinking caps on, tune your pipes and warm up your fingers.
For anyone who adores the sound of the pipes, this concert is not to be missed.
Piping Weekend registrations are due by Thursday 25 July.
Concert tickets will be available at the door unless sold out (cash only) or can be pre-purchased.
